I had the opportunity to attend the Y18 Conference, AIGA San Diego, with Ms. Deborah Sussman. It was a great opportunity to meet so two of my idols: Brian Singer (1000 Journals Project) and Josh Higgins (Design Director - Obama 2012 Campaign). I was so excited and nervous. These are the people inspired me to become a great designer - designer who cares about great causes for our community. Well, I sat 2 seats away from Josh Higgins, and three seats from Brian Singer, but I was so scared to introduce myself until the second day of the conference. Sitting between me and Josh were Deborah Sussman and Jamie Koval (VSA President), adding to my growing idols list. His designs are amazing and he was such a wonderful person, sweet and genuine. Then there are artists that I've known of their works but had no clue who they are. The inspirational designs of Wayne White, yes that's right, the Wayne White who designed many sets for PeeWee's Playhouse. The exceptional intricate and precise works of Meredith Dittmar. And there are many more designers and artists who are such inspirations for many of us. One thing they all have in common though. They were all very down to earth. They care so much about the communities around them; aspiring me to become the best designer I could be, to serve my community well.
 

But my fondest memories are with the staffs and crews of the Y18 Conference. They were so nice and supportive of the speakers and their guests. From day one of rehearsal, we got exceptional warm welcome to San Diego, to the last day of the conference, an emotional goodbye. They picked us up from the hotel every day, drove us around, held our hands every step of the way at the conference. Yet, there were always smiles on their faces. This was my first experience at the Y conference was exceptional, and the inspirations were beyond words could describe. I can't wait until next year, looking forward to Y19 !
